Avon SuperExtend Winged Out Liquid Liner and Mascara

I subscribe to the awesome review website Beauty Bulletin and have received two sets of products so far,the first was Batiste Dry Shampoo(My Youtube Video Below)

And the second is the products I will be reviewing today Avon's SuperExtend Liquid Liner and Mascara.

So for the pass few months I have been using the Essence get big! lashes volume curl mascara(R44.50) which I love as you don't have to apply too many coats to get your desired effect.
essence mascara - get big! lashes
essence mascara - get big! lashes

I have been struggling to master the art of the winged eyeliner for a very long time and no matter how many videos I youtube'd or how many pintrest tutorials,I checked out I just could not get it right(but that's a story for another video).Needless to say when then courier pulled up with these product I was excited for days.

I used the product and it is a very good product for the price range.

As you all know I am a huge Chanel fan and of course I need to do the test(comparing the two products)

This is the result;

chanel vs avon liquid liner and mascara
Left - Chanel  Right -Avon

So for me the Chanel took the prize, It's darker(liquid liner) and adds more volume(mascara).

I had to put on quite a few coats of the Avon mascara for it to be that dark vs 2 coats of the Chanel Mascara

Pricing:
Mascara:  Avon is about R120  and the Chanel is R485.

The liquid liner was open for about 3 days(supposed to last 6 months after opening) and it was already dry compared to the Chanel which is already 2 months old.

However I must add that for a product in this price it's a good product and will do what you require it too.

P.S I wanted to do a video(how to),so I could attach it to this post and then eishkom happened  and I didn't have much time thereafter.I will be completing it this week be sure to be on the look out for it.mwah.

Just would like to give a special thanks to Sunè Parris for cleaning up my end greeting and making it nice for your reading pleasure.

Prince of Crime - Jared Leto as the Joker

About 10 hours ago, it was announced that the latest actor to play the Joker will be Jared Leto.

Now I have my reservations about this, but everyone else had them when it was announced that Heath Ledger would be playing the Joker and look how that turned out(he won an oscar).

Thanks to Newsrama we have some fan reactions to the news of Heath Ledger being cast as The Joker in The Dark Knight.

"Heath? let's reminisce on the days of A Knight's Tale and Ten Things I Hate About You. Heath? The Joker? Bad casting. Bad joke."

"probably the worst casting of all time."

"On no, it's wrong on every level."

"This is totally bull. I do not at all like this choice."

"Hell NOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

"And now begins the second downfall of the Batman series... I hope this is all a joke"

"I am NOT seeing this movie if he is in it."

"The Joker is a character that needs an actor with gravity. Not some little twerp who got lucky."

Heath wowed all of us with his magnificent performance and unfortunately passed away during the  editing process of the film.He won an Oscar for his role and cemented his place in our heart's and minds forever.

Now 6 years later and on the 75th anniversary of the Prince of Crime we usher in the new generation , Joker - Jared Leto

I'm sorry to the Leto Fans and I know he is an amazing actor but the first thing that  came to mind when I saw this was - Tik kop(crystal meth addict) , trying to stay on trend with his neon hair.
And the Joker fandom is split fan reaction #Jokerleto

Hopefully he will do well and prove most of us wrong.

Look Post : Urban / Street wear

I took the kids to a casting on Monday and on our way home we spotted this awesome bridge on a field in Paardern Eiland.

Suit Jacket : Jet

2 minute DIY light switch decor

I finally got the chance to watch Fashion Bloggers TV on E! yesterday which I have wanted to do in forever(and couldn't because the guys and their sports rule the TV lol). I always knew that by watching it I can only get great tips/advice from it and this was definitely true.So what I took away from yesterdays episode was that if you are going to be taking great videos and photos you have to have 1 of two things ;
1. A room with plenty of natural light.
 2. Awesome lighting(which at this point I don't have).

So off I went to search for the best room in the house.I found it!My daughters' room, but I had one problem, an unsightly light switch covering(probably caused by stickers pasted on the covering). Clearly I can't be taking quality videos or pictures with that in the background. So I had to think of a plan and quickly.

Luckily in the beginning of the year(when I did my daughters stationery shopping) I spotted an awesome mint and white chevron wrapping paper, which I bought but never used. So I measured a piece of the paper that will cover the light switch covering and cut it out(with the help of my husband, because I swear I skipped the school lesson where they teach you to cut straight lol) and pasted it down and now I/Zoë has an awesome light switch covering and a beautiful space to work in!

If you don't have wrapping paper and need to go to the shops, pop in to your nearest CNA and pick up a pack of 3 washi tapes for R59.90

P.S please excuse how I look in this pic lol I was in creative mode.

Wrapping paper from Shoprite(You can also use washi tape R59.90 at CNA)

Wall art - available from me R120 for the awesome phrase and R70 for the abstract face(add my page on facebook here and pop me an inbox/ send me an email to intheloopwithcoco@gmail.com)

Autumn / Winter 2015 Colour Trends : Not all things are black and white sometimes it's GREY!

As summer is drawing to a close and most of the fashion shows for the AW 2015 season have been showcased, one of the stand out colours for the season is definitely GREY.

A few weeks ago,I posted about the new GREY hair trend and I see it has been picking up in popularity in my news feed and timeline.Click here to see my previous post.

I pop around to Ralo in Tygervalley to check out their range of GREY nail polish. As I wanted( needed) to find a way to incorporate GREY into my wardrobe as I am still deciding whether or not I will be going grey in hair colour.

They had 4 different shades,an aliminium type colour(pinky),a matte grey(ring and middle finger) ,a glossy grey(index finger) and a silver grey(thumb).

I have had sometime now from yesterday up until today to get a feel for it on my hands and I have grown fond of the matte grey.

Which shade of grey,do you prefer?Let me know in the comments section below.

Make up: What to use if you just starting out

There is a few people I ask for advice to make sure of my facts and when it comes to make up,I am always sure to contact Terri Lucks-Richards make-up artist.I am a huge make-up enthusiast but not close to being a make-up artist. This post will be in two parts.1.When to start introducing make-up into your daughters' beauty regiment and what make-up products are best to start with and 2.Which make-up products to start using as an adult that hasn't used make-up before but would like to.So basically essential products to have as your starter make-up kit as you become more  comfortable  with make-up you can then start building your collection.

Above are pics of Tamsen ( my creative assistant ; nails lol). It was a make-up look I did for her to show her ,how she can apply make-up without having to look like it's cakes on.(the bottom pic appears a lot whiter than it actually was due to the SPF in the foundation, when a foundation has SPF in it reflects the light of the flash leaving you looking quite pale).

When is a good time to start introducing make- up into your daughters' beauty regiment?

So this is a bit of a tricky question and is ultimately based on the parent/parents' preference,as personally I would hold back up until my daughter actually ask/tells me that she would like to start wearing make-up(want my angel to be my baby for as long as I can have her, they grow up so quickly).

However I reckon that a good age would be at about 13 years old.

The first and most important products to purchase will be your skin care products, your cleanser, toner and moisturiser (Yardley has a great range for young skin) this is actually very important for everyone who wears make-up. Many people think that make-up causes pimples which is not true. The main cause of make-up related breakouts occur due to it the make-up not being removed properly.

Once that has been purchased I would recommend getting a bb cream, a lipgloss,a natural blush and mascara(this is always good to have).A good brand to use would be Essence they are manufactured in Germany  , affordable and aimed at teenagers, so it won't mess up their skin.

Which make-up products to purchase as an adult that would like to start wearing make-up ; The starter kit.

Get a matte eyeshadow trio in neutral colours like taupe/brown, beige and maybe a darker colour for a smokey eye on a date night like dark blue or grey.

An eyeliner(Essence waterproof mascara is very nice and long lasting)

A mascara (Avon is nice as it is good quality and affordable)

A shimmer stick/bronzer for glow.

A nude lipstick(your own lip colour or slightly darker). And a red lipstick for a night out(Click here to see how to choose the perfect red for you)

A lovely blush (Ralo has a very nice , long lasting and good quality blushes and wide range of colours)

I hope this helps and if you have any more questions, please comment below and then i can answer your questions with a follow up post.

Pharrel Williams with Woolies

The twitterverse was a flutter today as news broke that Pharrell Williams will be teaming up with Woolworths on a new campaign or

So let me start off by saying that I am a big Pharrell Williams fan!Truly talented, wholesome, fresh and definetly a fashionista of note! The same can be said about Woolworths lol.

So over the past few months or so Pharrell has had a huge influence on pop culture here with his mounty hats and his cool style/"SWAG".
Which I'm sure has played a big role on Woolworths choosing him for these campaigns(nothing confirmed wrt what kind of campaigns its going to be).

My question, however, as something else that has also been doing it's rounds on the twitterverse is, should we be choosing international artists over our local artists'? See my previous blog post, http://intheloopwithcoco.blogspot.com/2015/03/aka-and-george-avakian-go-at-it-on.html?m=1 , where AKA calls George Avakian out about Ace Hood's perfomance at one of his events.

This isn't the first time that Woolworths has used internationally famous people to be the face of one of their campaigns, they have previously used celebrities such as Victoria's Secret Models Joan Smalls and Candice Swanepoel.Should we be un - Happy about this lol or should we hope that this will give a nice opening for South African Designers' to work hand in hand with such a big name such as Pharrell Williams in the fashion business?

What are your thoughts?Sound off in the comments section below.

UPDATE:

Pharrell Williams will be taking on the role of Style Director in collaboration across a series of sustainability-focused projects.
